Regretfully, the Directors of Precky Fest (2017) Ltd, have decided to postpone Preckyfest 2017, planned for the 1st July 2017 at the Totally Wicked Stadium, St Helens. It is proposed to hold the event in the summer of 2018

Beccy Barr of BBC North West Tonight presented a special feature about Steve Prescott which aired tonight, 30th June 2016.

Thanks to Steve Prescott's act of bravery pseudomyxoma sufferers are now surviving. By undergoing pioneering surgery at the Churchill Hosptial in Oxford other people are now living and tell of their thanks.

A team of 38 climbers who took part in the Spectrum Kilimanjaro Challenge in 2015  not only  reached Uhuru Peak the summit of the 5895m (19341ft) Mount Kilimanjaro in 6 days instead of the more usual 9 days, but also played the World’s Highest game of rugby to raise funds for, and awareness of the Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF).

Over 200 family, friends and Steve Prescott Foundation supporters joined in the £Million celebrations at the Yorkshire Three Peaks event at the weekend. 150 walkers tackled the gruelling 24 mile trek over Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside raising funds and awareness of the SPF.

The sun was shining as the intrepid walkers set off at 0700 from Horton-in Ribblesdale supported by Kuta Outdoors. Phil Lee and his team provided phenomenal support and expertise throughout the day and the SPF thank them so much for their fantastic work in keeping everyone safe and on track. We highly recommend their services to anyone considering completing walking challenges not only in Yorkshire but right across the UK.

The highlight was not only Passing £Million Pound donations to charities with such a great challenge, but Steve and Linzi’s sons Taylor age 14 and  Koby age 9 completing the challenge with Linzi. It really shows how passionate they all are at continuing Steve's legacy and following in the great mans footsteps.

Please be advised that due to circumstances out of our control that we will not be using the Station Inn at Ribblehead for the event. We are now using the Dalesbridge www.dalesbridge.co.uk.

This will be the location for the evening celebration with the marquee, hog roast and live band Stillia

Everyone booked in for camping will now stay at Dalesbridge. People previously booked into the Station Inn and Station Inn Bunk Barns will now be staying at Dalesbridge. Breakfast will be provided by the SPF at Dalesbridge. You will need to make your own way to the start point at Horton

Bookings already confirmed for Gearstones Cottage and Gearstones Lodge will still be honoured. As these are a further distance away from the start of the walk and the evening entertainment there is a coach booked to pick you up at 0600 to take you to the start at Horton. Breakfast will be provided at Horton You will be bussed back to Gearstones at the end of the evenings entertainment.

TIRELESS volunteer Joanne Griffiths says she will always treasure the MBE she collected at Buckingham Palace earlier in the month.

Joanne, who has been volunteering for 36 years, attended her investiture on Friday, May 20 and was presented with the award by the Prince of Wales.

The SPF committee member and mother-of-two from Eccleston was recognised in the New Year's Honours list for services to young people and the community in St Helens.

Andy Devaynes from St Helens gave himself an immense challenge when he set off from Lands End to John O’Groats on 20^th May.  Former amateur rugby league player Andy completed the 930 mile route over seven days raising funds and awareness for the Steve Prescott Foundation on the way. He has already raised over £1000 in the process.

Andrew says, ‘I am 34 years old, married with two daughters and currently studying towards a PhD. I played rugby league for Clockface Miners ARLFC for 10 years and represented Edge Hill University in the Challenge Cup in 2011. After calling time on playing rugby I took up cycling and ride natural trails in the Lake District, Peak District and surrounding areas most weekends. I regularly cycle to Edge Hill University taking my annual mileage to around 4000 miles each year. Steve’s fundraising was an inspiration and has inspired me to undertake my own challenges, so this year I am running the Manchester marathon and cycling LEJOG unsupported in 7 days.’

Liam, who is studying sports coaching and performance at Hull University ran a time of 1:58:01.

This involved walking 40 miles over the North Yorkshire Moors in less than 24 hours.  Here's Jill's account of the experience:-

The minibus set off from Hessle to Osmotherley (start point) at 1.30am in the morning and we reached there at 3.30am. We set off walking in first light at 4am and finished the walk 18 hours and 14 minutes later (including breaks and stops at checkpoints) at 10:14pm so we went nearly 24 hours without sleep by the time we all got home.  Only one person dropped out due to injury so 8 out of the 9 of us completed the walk.  Most of us were struggling the next day with aches and stiffness ( personally stairs and me were not friends for a couple of days!)  and one said 'it felt like he'd been beaten with a large stick!'

Comedian Johnny Vegas is going to renew rivalry with St Helens Rugby League legend Paul Sculthorpe MBE as they compete against each other in the Bartons Pickles Crown Green Bowling Celebrity Challenge on Sunday 21^st June. The star studded event takes place at Ruskin Sports ground. Local celebrities which includes St Helens stars past and present and boxing legend Martin Murray. Entrance is Free for all spectators.

Breaking news is that the event is going to have a live TV presence with Johnny Vegas being interviewed by the popular Prime Time TV Show Sunday Brunch.

Hull FC fan Ian Lancaster celebrated his 50th birthday last weekend and instead of presents, he asked all of his guests to make a donation to the Steve Prescott Foundation. Ian’s family and friends donated a fantastic £380 for the SPF.

Ian says ‘I’ve been a rugby league supporter for a long time. My dad was always asking me to go to Hull FC games when I was a kid. One Sunday afternoon, at about quarter to three I asked if we were going to go to the game. We ran from our house to the Boulevard to see Hull play Bramley. The game was abandoned shortly after half time as Hull ran out of clean shirts. This was the only game I ever got to see with my Dad. He died of stomach cancer the following year. I was hooked on the game though and continued to watch, play, manage and referee it.

It was all fun at Shoots Delph Farm at Mossbank, St Helens on Sunday. As part of farming’s national Open Farm Sunday visitors were welcomed to see the farm at first hand. Central to the farm is Forster Organic Meats farm shop selling organic beef and lamb. They also supply several local farmers markets with their produce. The fifth generation farming family business was established in 1891.

The day was blessed by sunny weather and visitors were able to enjoy a tractor ride round the farm, see sheep, pigs and cattle at close hand and enjoy refreshments including the fantastic beef burgers and sausages on the barbeque. There was a special kids play barn with an egg stall, a mini tractor run and face painting. There was also a butcher demonstration how to carve a half lamb carcass.

Leading people within St Helens said it would not happen. It was Steve’s last wish. We could have easily opted for an indoor swim but Steve wanted in true SPF style for the triathlon to be a full test and this certainly is!”

Dr Koukash said ‘I am really honoured to be given the opportunity of naming one of my horses after the legend of rugby league, Steve Prescott.
