Koby Prescott said:

“My dad was due to tackle Kilimanjaro in 2013 but sadly his health would not allow him to take on the iconic challenge.

I have heard many stories from previous challenges and seen the incredible footage from 2015 and have always wanted to test myself at the highest free standing mountain in the world.”

Everest Base Camp and Mount Toubkal where incredible challenges that will live with me forever, I am sure Kilimanjaro will be just as exceptional.

I hope many more SPF supporters will join me and raise vital funds for The Christie and Rugby League Benevolent Fund. We are all so passionate to help those less fortunate than ourselves and want to continue my dad’s astonishing legacy.

It will be a trip of a lifetime, I cannot wait!”

Walk to help your life!

Walk to save other people’s lives!!!

Average 2.74 miles a day!

Did you know it takes less than an hour a day's walking to hit 1000 miles in 12 months? That doing so dramatically boosts your immunity and cuts your risk of diabetes, heart attack, obesity, stroke and depression?

Peter Starling, a 21 year old from Beverley recently completed the spectacular Polar Night Half Marathon in Norway on the 6th January 2018, raising funds for the Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF).

Peter said. ‘As I have been a Hull FC fan from the age of 6, I was a huge fan of Steve's during his time at the club because of his true professionalism. I had the honour of meeting Steve outside the Castleford Tigers ground after an away game there one year. I admire all the challenges that Steve and other members of his foundation went on to complete especially considering the condition of Steve's health, which has inspired me to take some challenges on myself.’

With Health and Safety paramount, this year's GPW Recruitment St Helens 10k Run will not take place in its original form and will now become a top-class Virtual Weekend with state of the art timing solutions by the best in the business TDL Event Services.

Martin Blondel said, “The organising committee of the GPW Recruitment St Helens10k Run have delayed this decision as long as possible. Considering the current position with COVID-19 we have made the difficult decision of replacing the normal 10k run with a top-class Virtual Run Weekend that will take place on the same weekend of 6/7th March. This is in line with other 10k runs across the country. We have invested a lot of time and effort with our timing solutions providers TDL Event Services on creating an app that will be interactive and give athletes a unique insight into their 10k run. The app will track every runner via GPS and will give a time for each kilometre completed; this will then show up on the app.

We are elated to announce our first overseas participant in the SPF 1000 Mile Walk 2021. It is someone very special to the SPF family.

Dr Anil Vaidya, a name that may ring a bell with some SPF supporters. Anil was the surgeon consultant who operated successfully on Steve Prescott performing the World's first ever multi visceral transplant operation for a patient with Pseudomyxoma, in 2013. Sadly, Steve passed away three weeks later as a result of Graft Versus Host Disease, but he was cancer free.

The SPF, through Trustee Linzi Prescott, have continued to remain in contact with Anil and supported his great work on Pseudomyxoma and Cancer research.

Ben & Gaynor's Story

In October 2014 we went to Rhodes for a two week holiday before the end of the summer season . One day we went to Rhodes Town ( North of the Island ) and started to walk on the main road next to the sea. The sun was shining so we decided to carry on walking to make the most of the beautiful views and the weather.  A few hours later we were still walking ( and in Flip Flops ! ) and stopped off at the beach to have a drink . We both walked towards the edge of the sea to take in the breathtaking views and to have a good look in the distance just to see how far we had walked . It was one of those moments where you could just have a moment to yourself and think about life and where it is going. Gaynor then turns to me and says " Ben I have an idea for next year." A big smile was on Gaynors face and I knew she was about to tell me something big .

This exciting challenge is for a maximum of 80 cyclists, to cycle from the Arighi Bianchi car park in Macclesfield up to the Cat & Fiddle car park and return to the Arighi Bianchi car park 24 times.

Using an estimate that the average cyclist would take 70 minutes per loop (there and back) the event will involve 28 hours of cycling over a total of 38 hours, allowing for 10 hours rest in a nearby hotel.

After due diligence we have decided to open this challenge up to Tag Teams – Therefore you and a partner can tackle “Everest” and alternate your assault on the Cat & Fiddle summit. The Tag Team will be two people.
