This challenge is to ascend and summit Snowdon by sunrise on the Saturday morning, and descend back down to Llanberis that morning for around 8am. This is a total distance of approximately 9 miles. You will be taking on the highest mountain in Wales and hopefully witnessing a magnificent sunrise, weather dependant. It will be mentally and physically demanding but we also endeavour to make it a fun experience too

Please complete the walk registration form along with your registration fee.

Once you have completed registration form and paid your registration fee we will confirm your place on the challenge.

If you have any queries, please email info@steveprescottfoundation.co.uk

The contact on the day will SPF Trustee Jonathan Fenney Telephone Number 07841 333804. Please call this telephone number on the day of the challenge if required for any reason (if you are unable to locate the group, may be running late, etc).

This is a tough but very rewarding challenge and the team at the SPF will be with you every step of the way, from guiding you up and down the mountain, assisting with food, drink or first aid needs if necessary, and joining you for a celebratory cup of tea (or something stronger if you prefer!) at the end of the challenge!

There are various campsites and other forms of accommodation in the local area should you wish to stay over the night before or after the challenge in the Llanberis/Snowdonia area.

What will I need to wear/bring?

We would recommend the following:

  • A good head torch for the night time ascent of the mountain
  • Rucksack/backpack or similar suitable bag for carrying any spare layers, snacks and drinks
  • Walking boots/shoes and comfortable socks
  • Walking pants/shorts
  • Upper layers: short sleeved top, long sleeved top, light fleece/jacket
  • Waterproofs
  • Cap/hat
  • Gloves (It can get much colder on higher ground if the weather deteriorates, even in summer months)
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Hand sanitiser
  • Plenty of water and snacks (the cafes on Snowdon will not be open certainly on our ascent)
  • Blister plasters if you can be susceptible to blisters
  • Optional but not required: Walking poles

It would also be very advisable to bring a spare set of clothes to change into after the challenge.

Our team are first aid qualified and will be carrying first aid kits should you require assistance during the walk. Obviously, we hope this won’t be the case but we have to be prepared. If you do have any such issues during the course of the walk then please bring these to the attention of a member of the SPF team. You will be introduced to the team before we set off.

Car parking: There is a large pay and display car park immediately opposite the meeting point. This car park should be quiet at our meeting time. Please note this is card payment only now. There are also other car parks available around Llanberis.

We look forward to meeting you on the day and taking on this great challenge with you and continuing the great mans legacy.
