The Steve Prescott Foundation is delighted to be one of the organisers of the fantastic Westfield Street Music Festival on Sunday June 5th in our Million Pound Year

While the Olympic Games will head to Brazil this summer, organisers of the Westfield Street festival will seek to bring a taste of Rio to St Helens to help add to the carnival atmosphere for the event's third staging.

It was with great sadness that the Pilkington Horticultural Society agreed at its recent Annual General Meeting to close down their society. Under the terms of the constitution of the Society any existing monies must be donated to nominated charities. As a result of this ruling the committee of the PHS chose to donate a very generous £3315 to the Steve Prescott Foundation. The PH Society managed the allotments in St Helens which were originally set up for ex employees of Pilkington Glass.

Jan Swales a Halifax banking consultant ran the GPW Recruitment St Helens 10k in March and organised a sweep for friends and colleagues to guess her finishing time. She raised a magnificent £164 from this initiative and has also applied for match funding from the Halifax from their charity match funding scheme.

Colleague Carolyn Williams also joined in the fund raising by staging a book sale at the Halifax branch in St Helens in the run up to the event. In all a magnificent £518 was raised and the Halifax branch staff presented the £518 cheque to Linzi Prescott, wife of Steve Prescott and Trustee of the SPF.

Biffa, St Helens has safe systems at work scheme.  Every year each site has a Health and Safety incentive scheme whereby if they are accident free then Biffa pledges to donate a certain amount of money per employee to a registered charity. The employees then have a vote on which charity they want to support.

In 2015 the employees at the St Helens site which currently operates as a depot for the Collection division and the Special Waste division achieved their 12 month accident free target and chose the Steve Prescott Foundation as their dominated charity. The award of a magnificent £1256.11 donated will continue the legacy of Steve Prescott by helping to support the charities which were close to his heart.

On the 3rd April 2015, we both fly out to Morocco to take on 'the worlds toughest footrace' !! It consists of 152 miles of running in 6 days (which includes a day off!), across the Sahara Desert. We will be fully self-sufficient for the 6 days, carrying everything we need including 6 days food, sleeping bags, medical equipment..etc, in temperatures of 50*c+ !!

We are doing this for the Steve Prescott Foundation, in memory of our good friend Steve Prescott MBE. Precky always lived by the saying 'the body achieves what the mind believes'...and what better way to prove this than in one of the most brutal of challenges...pushing our bodies (& minds!) to the limit...but if one man can inspire us to do this, it is Steve. Unfortunately Steve passed away in November 2013 after major transplant surgery, but inspired so many people in his 39 years, and continues to do so through his foundation.
