Biffa, St Helens has safe systems at work scheme. Every year each site has a Health and Safety incentive scheme whereby if they are accident free then Biffa pledges to donate a certain amount of money per employee to a registered charity. The employees then have a vote on which charity they want to support.
In 2015 the employees at the St Helens site which currently operates as a depot for the Collection division and the Special Waste division achieved their 12 month accident free target and chose the Steve Prescott Foundation as their dominated charity. The award of a magnificent £1256.11 donated will continue the legacy of Steve Prescott by helping to support the charities which were close to his heart.
Massive congratulations to the Biffa staff for achieving an accident free work environment. It is a great testament to all the staff to achieve this target especially as they work in such a demanding industry. The SPF is very touched to be nominated and the donation will take the SPF closer to the Million Pound milestone of donations to The Christie Hospital, the Rugby League Benevolent Fund and the SPF Special Causes Fund. Each of these charities continues to help others thanks to the donations we receive and are making a difference to people's lives.
Biffa is the leading nationwide integrated waste management business in the UK providing collection, recycling, treatment and disposal services across the industrial and commercial sectors.
Biffa employees presented the cheque to Linzi Prescott, wife of Steve Prescott and Trustee of the SPF.
