Jan Swales a Halifax banking consultant ran the GPW Recruitment St Helens 10k in March and organised a sweep for friends and colleagues to guess her finishing time. She raised a magnificent £164 from this initiative and has also applied for match funding from the Halifax from their charity match funding scheme.

Colleague Carolyn Williams also joined in the fund raising by staging a book sale at the Halifax branch in St Helens in the run up to the event. In all a magnificent £518 was raised and the Halifax branch staff presented the £518 cheque to Linzi Prescott, wife of Steve Prescott and Trustee of the SPF.

The SPF is very touched to be nominated as the chosen charity and the donation will take the SPF closer to the Million Pound milestone of donations to The Christie Hospital, the Rugby League Benevolent Fund and the SPF Special Causes Fund.  Each of these charities continues to help others thanks to the donations we receive and are making a difference to people's lives.
