It was with great sadness the Steve Prescott Foundation Trustees and committee heard of the passing of Wilf Roach last November aged 85 years.  Wilf who started his playing career at amateurs Pilks Recs, was a centre or wing and played 37 games for St Helens in the 1950s  and was a popular figure amongst the fans. He retained a keen interest in sport and Saints in particular.

Wilf and his wife Elsie had recently celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary and were neighbours of Steve and Linzi Prescott.

Annette Conuel is a class teacher from Roseacre Primary School, Blackpool who for the eighth year in a row took on the challenge of walking from Keswick to Barrow in a day. The walk is a 40 mile challenge which includes some steep inclines through the beautiful Cumbrian countryside. Annette was joined by a teaching assistant also from the Academy, Lisa Lloyd who was on her third walk and Annette’s husband Ian who was attempting his ninth. Each year approx 2000 people complete the challenge on a Saturday in May.

Jill Lawrence very kindly contacted the SPF recently with a donation of £150 in memory of her mother June Mawdsley who sadly passed away on 17th December 2015 aged 80 years.

St Helens born June was a big Saints supporter all her life.

June bumped into Steve Prescott a few years ago whilst shopping in Tesco and had her photo taken with her hero.

Saints fan Neil Marsh and his girlfriend Nicola Dean completed the Great North Run last September and raised a magnificent £312 in the process. Neil explains why he was motivated to raise funds and awareness of the SPF:-

‘My girlfriend and I have been into our fitness and running for a number of years. We enjoy giving ourselves set challenges as we find this gives us that bit of a push needed to keep ourselves training in all weathers, preparing ourselves for whatever run we have entered.

This event will see the Steve Prescott Foundation pass the Million Pound mark in Donations to our charitable causes.

We would like supporters from the past and present to join us celebrating the life of Steve Prescott MBE and the incredible legacy he has left behind.

The Prescott Family, SPF Ambassadors & RL personalities will be present.

Netflights League At War

A Phenomonal Evening was had by all at the Netflights League at War Event that took place at Sutton High Leisure Centre St Helens on Saturday.
6 fiercely competitive fights were on the card with a highly entertaining exhibition bout.

After last year’s hugely successful inaugural Taylor Park Challenge our plans for this year are to expand the event to include 12 Corporate Teams with up to 11 participants per team.

Day 1

Well we have just completed day one - 88 miles in glorious weather over the hills of cornwall! Adam was leader for the day, however he was closely managed by Steve, who we are beginning to get a feeling, prefers to be in control himself. This suspiscion was confirmed when he gave Owen some coaching on how to urinate ef...fectively - the knowledge of the man is unbelievable!! Poor Jeff had a sore shoulder today, however he was fortunate to run into a stoned, drunken expert who gave him some encoragement...he is much better now. Accomodation tonight, well what a difference from last night...anyonw who has seen the burj al arab in Dubai, well its just like that! We have decided to run a 'eejit of the day' competition which was won by Steve only two minutes after leaving our hostel for forgetting his gloves! Nothing else to add other than we are off to re-hydrate with a couple of cold ones, with loads of pizza and pasta!

Steve and a star-studded team of ex-professionals will undertake the Carnegie Challenge Cup Challenge to run along this year’s tournament, embarking on a 700 mile bike ride across France before rowing 24 miles up the Thames in a dragon boat and running a half marathon to deliver the match ball to Wembley in time for the Carnegie Challenge Cup final in August.

On the weekend of January 17th/18th the legend that is Andrew "Wolfie" Pahlen organised a White Collar Boxing Event at the KC Stadium Hull.

To say the weekend was special would be a massive understatement.

SAINTS have announced their match against Hull FC will be a fitting tribute to the late Steve Prescott MBE.
