Reason to “Kill the Hill”: I stupidly turned down an opportunity to trek to Everest Base Camp 9 years ago and have been kicking myself ever since. I have been fascinated by Everest ever since watching a documentary series called “Beyond the Limit”. I don’t see myself actually climbing Everest (my wife wouldn’t allow it anyway!), but trekking to Base Camp is the next best thing. Most importantly, I want experiences and memories that I can look back on and be proud. Being able to raise money for charity in the process is the real cherry on the cake.
What are you most looking forward to: The challenge! Pushing myself beyond my comfort zone and being proud of my achievement. Raising money for charity, which will be a first for me. Trekking and quality time with my brother from another mother, Mike Ellenthorpe, and hopefully making some new friends with the shared experience we are all undertaking.
What are you least looking forward to: The challenge! :-) Never been a fan of hard exercise, so the training probably won’t be fun, but it will be worth it. Altitude sickness, although I hope to avoid that.
