St Helens Council, in collaboration with the Steve Prescott Foundation, has decided to illuminate the Steve Prescott Bridge in the Leeds Rhinos’ colors of blue and amber. This heartfelt gesture honors Rob Burrow CBE, who passed away on Sunday, 2nd June, after a valiant battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Linzi Prescott, representing the Steve Prescott Foundation, remarked: “Rob Burrow is a true icon of Rugby League, and his bravery in the face of adversity has touched the hearts of many. By lighting the Steve Prescott Bridge in blue and amber, we pay homage to his legacy and stand in solidarity with all those affected by motor neurone disease. Stephen and Rob exemplify the spirit of rugby league both on and off the field. Their courage in facing terminal illnesses and their tireless efforts to support others through charity work and advocacy have left a lasting impact. While their challenges and contributions differ, their shared legacy of resilience and compassion continues to inspire the rugby league community and beyond. Rob’s message of ‘every single day is precious and don’t waste a moment’ resonates deeply. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lindsey, Macy, Maya, Jackson, and the entire rugby league family who have lost a true hero and friend.”
