Handepay employees tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

On Saturday 11th August, 15 of Handepay’s brave employees tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for their nominated charity, the Steve Prescott Foundation. The challenge involves linking the three summits of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in a 25 mile walk and completing this in a day.

The team started their challenge by setting off from Handepay’s base in Haydock at 4.30am to make their way to Yorkshire. They arrived at Horton-In-Ribblesdale at 6.30am to be greeted by their guide for the day, David Pickles from Edge Travel Worldwide. Following a quick brief, the team set off on their challenge.

By mid-morning the team had already climbed 2,277 ft. to reach the smallest and first of the peaks, Pen-y-Gent. This was followed by a tough nine mile walk to the second peak of Whernside which is the highest peak of the challenge at 2,415 feet. After completing Whernside the team kicked off their final stretch to tackle 2,372 ft. to the top of the third peak, Ingleborough. The team conquered this by 7pm but this was followed by a two hour walk through limestone fields back to Horton-In-Ribblesdale.

All the money that their employees have raised will go towards hitting their £30,000 pledge for the Steve Prescott Foundation. If you would still like to sponsor the team and support their nominated charity, visit the team page www.justgiving.com/teams/HPThreePeaks
