The Yorkshire based Pro Event Dolls donned their walking shoes as they tackled the 24 miles and completed the Steve Prescott Foundation Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge last month. And the eight Dolls have raised a magnificent £1017.35 for the SPF in the process. The ladies deserve to be named and praised for their impressive efforts:- Sarah Elston, Michelle Eadie , Hannah Clarke, Kelly Walsh, Gina Harper, Jen Seaman, Laura Campbell and Abigail Oglethorpe.
After the event Team leader Sarah Elston said;
“We’ve always watched in awe at some of the challenges that the SPF supporters undertake, so when we saw the 3 Peaks challenge we thought - yeah we can give that a go! Admittedly we should have trained, and we ought to have put in a bit more research! The first peak was a massive shock to the system and I think it wasn't until we reached the top of that one that we realised how hard the day was going to be! But we plodded on and looked forward to seeing Jimmy Gittins' face each time we reached a milestone!”
“We had to dig deep and give each other some big pep talks, but we all got to the end and still managed a smile! The day after we all had some blisters, aches and pains. One trip to A&E for Jen with a sprained ankle and Kelly even managed to make a 10am audition in Manchester. All in all a great day!"
A massive thank you to the Pro Event dolls for their commitment to the challenge and for their magnificent fund raising. We hope the aches and sprains are now healed. Sincere thanks to the friends and families who supported the ladies.
The team of dancers have supported the SPF from the inception of the charity having been inspired by former St Helens, Hull FC and Wakefield Trinity rugby league international Steve Prescott MBE.
Sarah said. ‘’ Steve was an inspiration to all and is sadly missed. The legacy that he has created is immense and we are just so pleased to be a part of it and help those less fortunate.”
Martin Blondel of the SPF said "We are elated that Sarah and her team joined the SPF on our celebratory Three Peaks £Million event. It is only fitting that these ladies joined us to celebrate the life of Steve and the passing of a Million pound donations to our chosen charities. Over the years the SPF have had phenomenal support from the ladies.
