Widnes Vikings fan Leam Fox went the extra mile in organising a match between Widnes All Stars and Halton Simms Cross ARLFC at Birchfield Sport and Social Club, Widnes on Sunday 15th November in aid of the Steve Prescott Foundation and the Widnes Fellowship Centre. This was followed by an evening of entertainment.
Leam had organised the day as if it was a Wembley Cup final with pre match and half time entertainment, mascots and a match MC. Players were presented to guests from the SPF and the Widnes Fellowship Centre before the game. The game was played in great spirit and there were several 'splash tries' in the wet conditions. Leam even managed a break away try. No one knows what the final score was!
Leam won the Fan of Pride 2014 and is a great supporter of Rugby League and has for many years taken part in several charity walks and other events. Leam met Steve on the first SPF walk and found him a huge inspiration and wanted to arrange a game in his memory.
A massive thank you to Leam and all the players, the volunteers, the referee and the staff of Birchfield Sport and Social club for their wonderful hospitality.
