Couch to 10k
The Steve Prescott Foundation in association with Run Geek is delighted to announce a Couch to 10k course will start on Monday 9th November, 7pm from Victoria Park, St. Helens. This will be a 10 week course leading up to the GPW Recruitment St Helens 10k Run on the 6th March 2016.
The sessions will last an hour and will be led by a Run Geek staff member and qualified running coach Bill Bradley. The session will increase gradually each week, with the early weeks very much aimed at those new to running or who have had a break to running for a long period. Sessions will be £2 each and this need to be paid directly to Bill on the evening.
The first week will be an introduction to running for those new to the sport. Each session will increase in distance each week to get the runners ready for the 10k.
Running firm Saucony are supporting this initiative with prizes and during the 10 week course SPF ambassadors will also be joining in the course.
The Steve Prescott Foundation is also offering all runners a "One in a Million SPF" hoody when they sign up to race for the SPF in the GPW Recruitment St Helens 10k Run and also raise £120 and become a member of "Team Precky".
It is anticipated the SPF will surpass the one million pound mark in donations during the course of 2016.
Mike Denning, Chairman of the SPF said "At the Pride of St Helens Awards we will be presenting the highest donation within a calendar year from the SPF to our chosen charities! This will take our fundraising to just short of One Million Pound. The GPW Recruitment St Helens 10k Run has always been our flagship event and we would like as many people as possible to put on their running shoes and continue Steve's legacy. It is going to be a phenomenal year. When Steve set up the SPF he never set out to donate one million pounds. This is beyond his wildest dreams and it is going to be become a reality.’
