Three Saints fans Rob 'Rughead' Taylor, Bobby Taylor and Sam Thompson completed a 30 mile walk in 12 hours visiting five Northwest Rugby League clubs on the way. The walkers set off at 6am from Wigan Warriors DW stadium to Langtree Park St Helens via Leigh Sports Village, Warrington Wolves Halliwell Jones Stadium and the Widnes Viking's Select Security stadium. The sun was shining all the way as they made their way round the clubs.
Leigh Centurions stars Ryan Brierley and Tommy Goulden were on hand to welcome the trio at Leigh Sports Village. The guys enjoyed a well deserved lunch break with their families at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and Rhys Hanbury was on hand at Widnes Vikings to wish the guys good luck.
SPF ambassador Paul Sculthorpe MBE welcomed the walkers to Langtree Park ahead of the St Helens v Huddersfield Super league clash where they saw their heroes narrow win 35-34 over the Giants. Scully was able to empathise with the efforts of the walkers having had the experience walking from Lands End to John O'Groats last year for the SPF.
Rob said ' We've really enjoyed the day and met some really great people at all the clubs who helped along the way. Its such a pleasure to raise money for such a good cause'.
The boys have already raised an impressive £750 for their efforts and donations are still coming in at www.JustGiving.com/SPCharityWalk
Congratulations and Thank You guys!
