SPF Captain Tom Moore Challenge

It was over one year ago that Captain Sir Tom Moore completed his famous 100 laps of his garden and his message of hope still rings true across the world. As we come together to celebrate his life and legacy over his birthday weekend of 30th April to 3rd May, we can all do our bit to follow in his footsteps and step up to help those who need it most.

Since the start of this year, the Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) has amassed a team of 475 participants who have committed to walk 1000 miles throughout 2021. So far, they have walked over 110,000 miles and circumnavigated the world an incredible 4 times. They have also raised an amazing £50,000.

The #SPF1000Mile Walk Challenge has been a phenomenal success with the statistics above but what has also been incredible has been the way some of the team have also taken to cleaning up their local parks and beauty spots.

Ian Roberts from St Helens Litter Heroes for example has walked over 300 miles, filled 700 bags of rubbish and raised £2095. Other members Jim Housley, Barry Diggle, Steven Garnett, John James and Tony and Sarah Dixon from Warrington are regular collectors of litter on their walking travels. They have inspired their #SPF1000mile team mates and SPF supporters to join in cleaning up their local area on the weekend of Captain Tom Moore’s birthday.

The SPF Captain Tom 100 Challenge is for 100 volunteers to collect litter for 100 minutes.

There will be teams of litter pickers in St Helens who will be getting together in a socially distanced manner; details will be announced next week.

Great SPF supporters Stapleton Derby have already nominated a team of their workforce to clean up the around their Rainhill branch. It would be fantastic if other companies could follow their lead.

Primarily this challenge is to clean up our local areas anywhere in the country. However, in true Captain Tom Moore style it would be great if supporters who cannot take part in the litter pick if they could donate a few pounds to the Steve Prescott Foundation #CaptainTomMoores100 JustGiving page here https://captaintom100.justgiving.com/get-involved?charityId=184370

What you will need!

You will require a pair of sturdy gloves and a couple of bin bags. If you have a litter picker this will come in handy.

Taking Part?

Please contact Martin Blondel on 07971792859 or email info@steveprescottfoundation.co.uk

We would like a picture of you litter picking and hopefully we can show over 100 people taking part on our social media.

We look forward to you joining us and celebrating the life of Captain Tom Moore.
