£240,000 donated to the Christie, the RFL Benevolent Fund and the SPF Special Causes Fund
Even though Steve Prescott is no longer with us, Steve has continued to inspire. Under the guidance of his wife Linzi the Steve Prescott Foundation has continued to grow and we are delighted to announce that 2015 has seen the SPF surpass its previous record donation of £180,000 to its nominated charities. Not only has the SPF beaten that target, it has smashed it.
Representatives of the SPF chosen charities Steve Ball of the RFL Benevolent Fund, Mark Saunders from The Christie & Anil Vaidya Steve’s transplant surgeon were each presented with a donation of £80,000 to their charity, a magnificent £240,000 in total at the Solar King Pride of St Helens Awards at Langtree Park on Friday 13th November. A grand total of £940,000 has been donated to causes since Steve started the Foundation in 2007.
The SPF is also delighted to announce the creation of the SPF Special Causes Fund. This will allow those hospitals, researchers and surgeons who deal in Psuedomyxoma related conditions and multi visceral transplantation to apply for grants to the Trustees of the SPF who will ensure sure that the money will have a direct and significant effect on people’s lives.
2016 will be the Million Pound Year for the SPF with several events already planned, the highlight being a expedition to Everest Base Camp in October.
