Reason to “Kill the Hill”: Part of the Support team
Medical Details: Kiwi doctor, specialised in respiratory medicine and infectious diseases. I have several years experience in Africa, and most recently spent 2015-16 in Moshi, Tanzania. Whilst there, I helped develop a respiratory medicine unit at the local academic hospital (Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre). In this capacity I saw a large number of climbers who required medical evacuation with severe mountain sickness.
I have climbed Mt Meru and Ol Donyo Lengai. I also have extensive back-country and mountain experience in NZ and Europe. I have been an elite level rower and endurance athlete. I continue to keep fit, and last year completed sections of the Kilimanjaro Stage Run as a guest runner.
