Jason Benn, a college Curriculum manager and lecturer in Catering at Nelson and Colne College Burnley, is no stranger to physical challenges having taken part in several Triathlons, Tough Mudders and marathons in the past 3 years. Jason’s latest challenge was the Ironman UK in Bolton recently. Jason very kindly nominated the Steve Prescott Foundation as his chosen charity and he proudly wore his SPF vest for the event. Jason said, “I want to thank you the SPF for arranging the vest and hoodie. I had a great day and finished in 14hrs, 58m. I really had to dig deep during the Marathon and I raised approx £250.”
Jason had been training for the event since January and had clocked up over 2000km on the bike, 400km running and 53,984m swimming!!
Thank you so much to Jason for his fantastic fund raising for the SPF in our Million Pound Year - it really does make a difference to people lives as we support the Christie, the Rugby League Benevolent Fund and the SPF Special Causes Fund which supports research into Pseudomyxoma Peritonei. This will allow those hospitals, researchers and surgeons who deal in Psuedomyxoma related conditions and multi visceral transplantation to apply for grants to the Trustees of the SPF who will ensure sure that the money will have a direct and significant effect on people’s lives.
