Barry Davies got in touch with the SPF a few months ago with a really interesting offer.
Barry wrote, 'I have a collection of some drinks glasses that belonged to my dad Frank Davies. He was many years ago Chairman of the Saints Supporters Club. They were presented to him by the Saints Club after the Wembley Challenge Cup finals of 1960-61 ,1965-66 and 1972. There are also one's from v Australia 1970 /New Zealand 1971/ Australia 1972 and one when Saints played St Gaudinois ( I think). I would be pleased to donate the the glasses to be auctioned and the proceeds given to the Steve Prescott Foundation.'
Barry now lives in Durham but he visited St Helens recently with his partner Eileen and presented the glasses to Martin Blondel for the SPF at Langtree Park.
The glasses are real collectors items and are an important part of Saints rich history. It is proposed to display and auction the items at the Pride of St Helens Awards Night on Friday November 13th at Langtree Park.
Thank you so much to Barry for his extremely kind donation. The glasses are sure to create a lot of interest and raise funds for the SPF.
