NCC staff present The Steve Prescott Foundation with the cheque.

Inspired by the legacy of Steve Prescott, local distance learning provider NCC Home Learning rallied for his cause.

Their staff took on everything from a 30 mile charity cycle, to a sport themed fun day, helping to raise over £1000 for the Foundation.

And success for Steve ended on a sweet note as NCC staff presented us with the cash at the glitzy afternoon with boxing icons Sugar Ray Leonard and Martin Murray at Sutton Leisure centre.

A rare, signed Mal Meninga plaque, gifted by the Saints, sparked NCC’s yearlong fundraising effort and they donated this at the Sugar Ray event to further help raise money for the cause.

Talking about the fundraising success NCC’s Managing Director Tony Smith said: ‘It’s been a whirlwind of events. The staff really got involved and did a great job in raising the funds.

‘The kind gesture from Saints inspired us to give something back and we thought who better to support, than SPF. Hopefully all the money raised will make a big difference to a great local cause.’

Recognising NCC’s efforts Saint’s star Joe Greenwood also said: ‘Steve was one of my coaches on Saints Academy – he was a special guy and I would encourage everyone to follow NCC Home Learning’s example and support SPF.’

Martin Blondel General Manager of the SPF said “Support from NCC has been immense, the money they have raised has been incredible, we would like to thank all the team for their support and for continuing Steve’s legacy!”
