On the 13th October 2007 Steve Prescott MBE completed his first of many epic challenges - The Steve Prescott Trans Pennine Walk; 200 miles from Hull to the Super League Grand Final visiting all the Super League clubs along the way. This was the inaugural Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) event; the catalyst to an incomparable legacy that has changed the lives of so many and amassed a phenomenal £1 Million of donations to the SPF chosen charities, The Christie, Try Assist (Rugby League Benevolent Fund) and the SPF Special Causes Fund. The Trustees of the SPF extend an invitation to all past and present supporters and SPF Ambassadors to join together and celebrate 10 years of the SPF Charity. They can pay homage to the great man by walking from St Helens RFC to the sponsor's Hotel Football just outside Old Trafford ahead of the 2017 Super League Grand Final on Saturday 7th October and celebrate the life of Steve Prescott MBE. Paul Walsh General Manager of Hotel Football said “We are extremely honoured to be hosting the the walk for the second year in a row. The event last year was a huge success and this year will be even better!” Martin Blondel General Manager of the SPF said "Back in 2007 it was our objective to raise £20k for the charities which supported Steve during the onset of his illness. From the Trans Pennine Walk, such was the support for Steve we actually raised £78k. We were overwhelmed. This was the first time I realised that Steve was "superhuman". He started in Hull with blisters on his feet as a side effect of chemotherapy but he would not back down and amazingly finished the walk. It was incredible to see first hand and was the sign of things to come!" Linzi Prescott added "When the SPF started in 2007 we never thought we would have helped so many people and raised so much money. The RFL family have been incredible and Stephen would be so humbled and proud to see his efforts supported by so many. We want to see as many people join us on the walk from St Helens RFC to Old Trafford. It would be especially nice to see all the people who took part in the inaugural walk and all the events in the past ten years join together, push their bodies to the limit and raise a glass of Sambuca at the end to Stephen." The Hotel Football Walk For Precky is a total of 21.3 miles and will set off from the Totally Wicked Stadium, St Helens at 07.00 with an estimated arrival time at Hotel Football of 15.00 The SPF requests that all participants pledge to raise a minimum of £60 per person for the SPF. For this donation they will receive a special Hotel Football 'Walk for Precky' technical t-shirt, water and fruit on route and refreshments on arrival at Hotel Football. Rugby League Clubs can also join in the walk with a 50/50 split of all fundraising. This will not only support the SPF but also raise much need funds for their clubs. Hotel Football will once again host a pre Super League Grand Final party in the OTSC club. A galaxy of Rugby League legends that will be interviewed by former Super League referee Karl Kirkpatrick during the afternoon. The Hotel Football event will start at 1330 and will entertain Rugby League fans until kick off. Entrance for the walkers will be free of charge.
