Neil and Nicola complete the Great North Run

Saints fan Neil Marsh and his girlfriend Nicola Dean completed the Great North Run last September and raised a magnificent £312 in the process. Neil explains why he was motivated to raise funds and awareness of the SPF:-

‘My girlfriend and I have been into our fitness and running for a number of years. We enjoy giving ourselves set challenges as we find this gives us that bit of a push needed to keep ourselves training in all weathers, preparing ourselves for whatever run we have entered.

Inaugural Bishop Burton 5k Santa Dash

The Altisidora Inn, Bishop Burton, Beverley held their first 5k Santa Dash to raise funds and awareness of the Steve Prescott Foundation last weekend. Thirty brave Santas battled the treacherous weather conditions to complete the course. They were able to enjoy festive fare and the cosy warmth of the 19th century Grade 2 listed hostelry on the completion of the run.

Organisers Diane and Mark Milsom said ' Everyone had a great time, and are already looking forward to next years run. Hull FC star and SPF ambassador Danny Washbrook was an absolute legend AGAIN! Not only helping promote via social media, but also starting and finishing the run. A magnificent £500 has already been raised for the Steve Prescott Foundation, with a bit more still to come.'

A massive thank you to everyone who took part in the inaugural Santa Dash and to Mark and Diane for their organisation and hospitality.

Simms Cross Rugby Match in Aid of the SPF

Widnes Vikings fan Leam Fox went the extra mile in organising a match between Widnes All Stars and Halton Simms Cross ARLFC  at Birchfield Sport and Social Club, Widnes on Sunday 15th November in aid of the Steve Prescott Foundation and the Widnes Fellowship Centre. This was followed by an evening of entertainment.

Leam had organised the day as if it was a Wembley Cup final with pre match and half time entertainment, mascots and a match MC. Players were presented to guests from the SPF and the Widnes Fellowship Centre before the game.  The game was played in great spirit and there were several 'splash tries' in the wet conditions. Leam even managed a break away try. No one knows what the final score was!
