SUNDAY 5th Dec - Ruskin St.Helens

On the 5th December three organisations will join together to provide a family festive fun day for all of St Helens Borough to  enjoy and raise a glass of mulled wine or two!

Ruskin will once again be the perfect host following on from last year’s Lockdown Christmas Market.  There will be market stalls inside and outside and also a Santa’s Grotto and festive fun for all the family.

This is a phenomenal "bucket list" Challenge taking on the historic "Rongai Route" over 6 days.

By taking part in this epic challenge you will be continuing the great man's Steve Prescott MBE legacy and helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

The Steve Prescott Foundation is delighted to announce details of the exciting extreme challenge I'm a Precky Fan!!..............Get me out of Here!! in association with EDGE Travel Worldwide.

The 48 hour challenge will take place in Burwardsley, West Cheshire starting at 1800 on Friday 28th April and finishing at 1800 on Sunday 30th April 2017.

There will be a wide range of activities (15 in total) that will be based on a “I’m A Celebrity theme”. Here are a few examples Tarzan swing, Eat to survive, Buried Alive, Hot or Cold, Solitary confinement and Slippery when wet!!

A total of 20 lucky participants will brave the outdoors undertaking a series of challenges to test their individual and team mental resilience and their ability to adapt in a remote and austere environment.  Activities will include individual, pair and team challenges and competitions throughout the 48 hour period.  The participants will be split into two camps: Red and Blue.

All contestants must approach this as a digital detox so no watches, no smoking allowed and no comfort items are allowed unless essential for health reasons. Mobile phones will only be allowed for event social media purposes at designated times. Toilets will be slit trenches away from any sleeping and eating areas which will also have privacy covering. On site medical support will be provided.

A party of 41 volunteer trekkers have safely achieved their objective of climbing to the Nepal Everest Base Camp and have raised an amazing £200k for the Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) in the process.

Padgate Tennis and Bowling Club in Warrington presented a cheque for a magnificent £1610 to Steve Prescott Foundation secretary Alex Chicken at their annual awards night at the Grange Social club last Saturday.

The tennis club held a 12 hour tennis-a-thon in April this year with a number of other activities which ran during the course of the day including free tennis coaching, round robin competitions, a prize raffle and a BBQ. The club also auctioned a very desirable and unique piece of tennis memorabilia for the SPF. In preparation for the event, organiser Andy Hawley contacted 2014 Strictly Come Dancing star Judy Murray to request her support for the event. Judy very generously sent a tennis shirt and tennis ball both signed by her son former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray. She also sent a personal note saying, ‘Signed shirt from Andy for your Steve Prescott fundraiser. Good luck. Judy x’

The Doncaster branch of the Leeds Rhinos Supporters Club in association with Spartans Events have arranged a Big Crimbo Charity Bash at Eglinton Top Club on Friday 18th December to raise funds and awareness of the Steve Prescott Foundation and Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

MC for the night is the Leeds Rhinos legend Jamie Jones-Buchanan. The Challenge Cup, League Leaders Shield and First Utility Super League Trophies will be on show. There will a professional photographer on hand to take souvenir piccies on the night.

The night of entertainment includes appearances by top comedian Jimmy Carroll, The Wealdstone Raider, Billy 'The Hardman' Brook and Howard Foster (world renowned boxing referee) and Harry Hillish, as well as stars of rugby league, football and boxing. A festive buffet will be available.

There will be raffles and auctions on the night with quality items. Auction items on offer include a signed Leeds Rhinos Challenge Cup shirt. World champion boxers signed gloves and tickets for an upcoming Gazza event in Sheffield.

Widnes Vikings fan Leam Fox went the extra mile in organising a match between Widnes All Stars and Halton Simms Cross ARLFC  at Birchfield Sport and Social Club, Widnes on Sunday 15th November in aid of the Steve Prescott Foundation and the Widnes Fellowship Centre. This was followed by an evening of entertainment.

Leam had organised the day as if it was a Wembley Cup final with pre match and half time entertainment, mascots and a match MC. Players were presented to guests from the SPF and the Widnes Fellowship Centre before the game.  The game was played in great spirit and there were several 'splash tries' in the wet conditions. Leam even managed a break away try. No one knows what the final score was!

Diane and Mark Milsom the hosts of The Altisidora Inn, Bishop Burton, Beverley have very kindly organised a 5k Santa Dash to raise funds and awareness of the Steve Prescott Foundation on Saturday 5th December starting at 2pm.  There will also be a small Christmas market in the pub garden, a Rugby League related raffle, and festive food and drinks available.

Entry is  £12 for adults who will receive a complimentary Santa suit, and £6 for under 16's, who will receive a Santa hat. Children under five go free but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Entrants can sign up via www.JustGiving.com/Mark-Milsom7PreckySantaDash

£240,000 donated to the Christie, the RFL Benevolent Fund and the SPF Special Causes Fund

Even though Steve Prescott is no longer with us, Steve has continued to inspire. Under the guidance of his wife Linzi the Steve Prescott Foundation has continued to grow and we are delighted to announce that 2015 has seen the SPF surpass its previous record donation of £180,000 to its nominated charities. Not only has the SPF beaten that target, it has smashed it.

Representatives of the SPF chosen charities Steve Ball of the RFL Benevolent Fund, Mark Saunders from The Christie & Anil Vaidya Steve’s transplant surgeon were each presented with a donation of £80,000 to their charity, a magnificent £240,000 in total at the Solar King Pride of St Helens Awards at Langtree Park on Friday 13th November. A grand total of £940,000 has been donated to causes since Steve started the Foundation in 2007.

The SPF is also delighted to announce the creation of the SPF Special Causes Fund. This will allow those hospitals, researchers and surgeons who deal in Psuedomyxoma related conditions and multi visceral transplantation to apply for grants to the Trustees of the SPF who will ensure sure that the money will have a direct and significant effect on people’s lives.

2016 will be the Million Pound Year for the SPF with several events already planned,  the highlight being a expedition to Everest Base Camp in October.

It will be a fantastic afternoon including a Q&A session with Danny Sculthorpe, hosted by Top MC Mick Braddy Bradshaw

GB All stars v Army vets will take part in the first Steve Prescott memorial game on 15th November 2014 kick off 1400hrs.

Playing at Skirlaugh ground near Hull Staithes Road, Saltend, Hedon, HU12 8DX.

It will be touch rugby 4 x 20mins. Proceeds to Steve Prescott Foundation and L6ve Life foundation.
