Exciting news! The JustGiving Awards are back this November and  The Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) are asking our supporters to vote for the SPF to become this year’s winner!

The JustGiving Charity of the Year award is an opportunity to showcase all of the amazing things the SPF has done, and to celebrate all of the hard work of everyone who has given their time, money and love to our charity. It also gives our supporters a chance to tell the world about the SPF and why it means so much to them!

The Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) are really excited that Pagdate Tennis Club in Warrington have a unique piece of tennis memorabilia up for auction in aid of the SPF.

The tennis club held a tennis-a-thon earlier this year raising a magnificent £1200 for the SPF. As part of this celebration organiser Andy Hawley contacted Judy Murray to request her support for the event. Judy came up trumps by sending a Tennis shirt and tennis ball both signed by her son former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray. She also sent a personal note saying, ‘Signed shirt from Andy for your Steve Prescott fundraiser. Good luck. Judy x’

The staff, partner agencies and young people of YPS Foyers, St Helens organised a Health Festival at Langtree Park, St Helens on 23rd July 2015, to celebrate the last 2 years of the highly successful young person’s health promotion programme “Healthy Conversations”. They also raised a grand total of £250 which they have very kindly donated to The Steve Prescott Foundation. The event was supported by the Saints Community Development Foundation.

Healthy Conversations is a £3.2m project funded by the Big Lottery Fund and run by the Foyer Federation over the past 2 years to support young people living in sheltered accommodation in being more proactive in their approach to looking after their health.

Barry Davies got in touch with the SPF a few months ago with a really interesting offer.

Barry wrote, 'I have a collection of some drinks glasses that belonged to my dad Frank Davies. He was many years ago Chairman of the Saints Supporters Club. They were presented to him by the Saints Club after the Wembley Challenge Cup finals of 1960-61 ,1965-66 and 1972. There are also one's from v Australia 1970 /New Zealand 1971/ Australia 1972 and one when Saints played St Gaudinois ( I think). I would be pleased to donate the the glasses to be auctioned and the proceeds given to the Steve Prescott Foundation.'

Barry now lives in Durham but he visited St Helens recently with his partner Eileen and presented the glasses to Martin Blondel for the SPF at Langtree Park.

The glasses are real collectors items and are an important part of Saints rich history. It is proposed to display and auction the items at the Pride of St Helens Awards Night on Friday November 13th at Langtree Park.

Thank you so much to Barry for his extremely kind donation. The glasses are sure to create a lot of interest and raise funds for the SPF.

Hercules the Hornet, the mascot of Rochdale Hornets ran the St. Helens 10k run in March this year with the support of Rammy's girls.

On the way they managed to raise a fantastic £425 for former Hornet's coach Steve Prescott's Foundation.

The cheque was presented to Linzi Prescott, wife of Steve Prescott and trustee of the SPF, at the Rochdale Hornets vs North Wales Crusaders game on Sunday 9th August by Dave Ramsbottom. Linzi was accompanied by her sons Taylor and Kobi.

Congratulations to Hercules and his helpers for completing the 10k run and thank you for choosing the SPF for your donation. Thank you to everyone at Rochdale Hornets for their continued support of the SPF.

Andrew who hails from St Helens raised £160 for the SPF in the process.  Andrew who is 38, is married to Gill and has two young children Lewis (7) and James (5),

Andrew says  'It was in a gym session when Steve was playing first team at Saints and I was an academy 'wanna be' when Steve shared some advice with me..."if you think about something hard enough and you really want it, you can achieve it", sound familiar?

Roger, 45, is a police officer and is married to Jo and has two boys aged 14 and 11. His passions are travelling and running.
The GNR is the world's leading half marathon which started in 1981. The course runs from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields. The event is covered live on BBC. Previous runners include Mo Farah and Paula Ratcliffe.

Roger commented. 'The last time I ran any similar distance to the Great North Run I was 20 years of age. I became involved with this run after being challenged by my cousin after I was barracking her about doing it. After enrolling I decided to put it to use by raising a bit of money for a charity.

Hull FC supporter Craig Waites ran the York 10k race on 2nd August in a time of 55mins 33secs and has so far raised £115 for the Steve Prescott Foundation.

Craig says. 'Over the last four years I have both my hips replaced and over the last year I have lost 3.5 stone in weight. Because Steve Prescott has been a hero of mine for many years, I thought it would be nice to raise some money for charity.'You can sponsor Craig at www.justgiving.com/craig-waites/

Well done Craig and thank you for choosing the SPF for your fund raising.

STEVE PRESCOTT has revealed ex Hull star Steve Crooks gave him the will to raise more than £500,000 for charity before he died last November - seven years after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Steve played for England, Ireland and Great Britain and was given only months to live when he was told he had a rare form of abdominal cancer the day after his youngest son Koby was born in 2006.

But Steve, awarded the MBE in 2010, says in his autobiography "One in a Million," that he is indebted to his pal Steve Crooks.

On Friday 1st August St Helens RFC were the inaugural winners of the Steve Prescott Cup.

They managed to beat Hull FC with an aggregate score of 46 - 41 and took great honour in taking the Cup back to Langtree Park.

Having beaten Hull FC 34 - 22 at Langtree Park in February, Hull FC beat St Helens 19 - 12 in the return leg of a pulsating competition. The crowd for both games were absolutely amazing.

Taylor & Koby Prescott were the mascots and Neil Prescott placed the ball for kick off.
