The Steve Prescott Foundation, along with Woolyback productions, are elated to announce that the Barton’s Pickles Johnny Vegas Celeb Bowls, for the Lol Pennington Memorial Cup, will once again take place at Ruskin Leisure St Helens on Sunday August 8th 12 noon until 9pm.

It is with a very heavy heart that the brave and inspirational Claire Place passed away on Sunday morning, 22nd July 2018.

Claire was the first person to undergo the multivisceral transplant after Stephen and without her bravery, following in Stephen’s footsteps, the operation may not have become a viable option for other pseudomyxoma patients.

The eight man cycle team representing the Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF completed the really extreme challenge of cycling 3000 miles arriving in Gibraltar in the early hours of 10th July. The official finishing time for the @SPFCHARITY Team K3 Zadara of 6 days, 19 hours and 7 minutes, smashed the previous course record of over 8 day.  The team tackled the cycling endurance Race Across Europe (RACE) starting from Boulogne Sur Mer crossing seven countries and the  really tough terrain of the Alps and the Pyrenees. The route also included the notorious Mont Ventoux in France.

On behalf of The Steve Prescott Foundation we are elated to announce in partnership with Woolyback Productions & Bartons Pickles the JV Crown Green Bowls Challenge for the Lol Pennington Memorial Cup which will take place at Ruskin Sports Village 12th August 12 noon start.

We have 10 top class celebrities with 6 more names to be announced to battle it out for the Lol Pennington Memorial Cup.

The Steve Prescott Foundation celebrated the milestone of £Million of donations by hosting a dinner at Langtree Park, St Helens last Friday. Special guest was Liverpool FC and England legend Kevin Keegan OBE, who gave a terrific presentation which featured memories from his career and football anecdotes. Steve Prescott was a huge Liverpool FC fan and Kevin Keegan was his hero, so it was really fitting to have Kevin present on such a special occasion.

Two lads, Two bikes, ten days, 1000 miles

Neil Tucker from St Helens is a Hodgkins lymphoma cancer survivor who braved the pain by having a shave of his full face and waxing of his body at Langtree Park, St Helens recently.

Neil, 38  said. “  My Just Giving page has raised £110 with the gift aid added it is £130. I had a fantastic day. I'm sure Stephen would of been chuckling to himself with the pain in my face but it was all worth it. I couldn't  have done it myself without the help of good friends and all the good people who donated to the cause which is close to my heart.

St Helens RFC, who are associate sponsors of the inaugural St Helens Triathlon will be showing their support by attending the Open Water Swimming Training at Eccleston Mere on Monday 27th July from 1830 till 2000.

George Netherton sadly passed away suddenly on the 11th May 2015. He was a true Hull FC fan who never missed a game Not only was he a Hull FC fan but he loved rugby league in general. In the early days George would go to the Boulevard to cheer on the black and white and stand in the threepenny stand. You would always know where he was sat watching the game because you would hear him cheering or disagreeing with the ref.  He was very passionate about the black and whites and a very proud supporter. The day George got to see his grandson Danny Nicklas play for Hull FC was a very proud day for him.

George's daughter Kay Netherton, their family and friends have very kindly donated £90 to the SPF to fulfill George's wish that his donation money to go to the Steve Prescott Foundation

The SPF send their condolences to all family and friends of George, and thank them for their kind donation.

George Netherton RIP

More than 30 people, one big hill. How hard can it be?

The Journey to Kilimanjaro - by Angela Powers

I'll be blogging about the team and our efforts to prepare for this mega challenge, and I hope you will be able to help us along the way. Whether it's organising or attending fundraising events, donating prizes or getting involved, you can do your bit in keeping Steve's legacy alive. Contact me here or at info@herrugbyleague.co.uk with your ideas and get on board!
On October 13,  Her RL chair Angela Powers will be joining a group of people aiming to climb Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, in just 5 days instead of the recommended nine. More than 70 per cent fail to do it. But failure isn't an option.

That's because this climb is for the Steve Prescott Foundation, set up by the former Hull and St Helens star who died after battling a cancer that he was told might kill him after six months.  He went on to live for five more years, raising about £500,000 for good causes along the way.

Steve always wanted to climb this mountain but never got the chance. Now this team - led by Adrian Cunliffe and featuring stars such as Adrian Morley, Lee Briers, Alan Hunte and Barrie McDermott, as well as the actor Matt Lewis - is going to take these steps for him and in his memory.

Hello!

My name's Matthew Lewis and along with my mate Nick, and against our better judgement, we have decided to climb a mountain and we need YOUR help...

Both Nick and I are big Rugby League fans and we've followed our team the Leeds Rhinos for many years. Rugby League however is more than just club loyalties and tribalism. It's a social sport, a game that brings communities together instead of dividing them, for want of a better word, it's a family. And nobody sums that mentality up more than Steve Prescott.

A team of 36 climbers will be tackling Kilimanjaro in October 2015 to raise funds for the Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF).

The official launch for the climb which is sponsored by Spectrum Group, a leading recruitment and training specialist in construction and rail with its head office in Manchester, took place at 1330 on Thursday 16th July 2015 at the Tree of Hope at The Christie, Manchester. The launch was attended by Steve’s wife, Linzi Prescott, SPF General Manager Martin Blondel, Spectrum Group Managing Director Neil Farrow and leading celebrities.

The walkers set off at 6am from Wigan Warriors DW stadium to Langtree Park St Helens via Leigh  Sports Village, Warrington Wolves Halliwell Jones Stadium and the Widnes Viking's Select Security stadium. The sun was shining all the way as they made their way round the clubs.

The game was placed into "golden point" as the score was 12-12 at the end of normal time. Jake Eccles then slotted over a drop goal to secure the victory & the trophy for Woolston, and send his team & coaching staff delirious with joy.

The first leg of the inaugural Steve Prescott Cup took place at Langtree Park, home of St Helens RFC in February, with the Merseyside club just edging out a narrow 34 – 22 victory in a pulsating battle.

The Cup will be an annual event played between both of Steve's former clubs with the team having the highest aggregate score in the two regular Super League matches winning the cup.

Therefore the clash on Friday 1st August will see one of the captains lifting the cup for the very first time.

Before the game, a tribute to the inspirational Prescott will be played on the large screens and his sons Taylor & Koby will be mascots. Steve's brother Neil will carry the matchball onto the KC Stadium pitch.

General Manager of the Steve Prescott foundation, Martin Blondel said "We would like to thank Hull FC & St Helens RFC for this magnificent gesture. Knowing the players like I do, I know how much it will mean to both sides, it will be a huge honour for either captain to lift the inaugural Steve Prescott Cup! This fixture will be a permanent reminder of the great man! The cup will make sure that Steve's legacy will continue and his name will live on forever."

It was a huge honour for The Steve Prescott Foundation to be one of James Roby's Charity partners for his testimonial year. Just to be associated with the mercurial St Helens legend would have sufficed but to receive a cheque of £6000 was incredible.

James Roby commented on his final testimonial event held at Berrington Hall on Saturday"When i was growing up Steve Prescott was one of my heroes on the rugby pitch. I was privileged enough to get to know him and admire his selfless work he did for others whilst battling his illness. Along with Group B Strep, my wife Natasha and I decided that it was the least we could do to support the two great charities and continue Steve's legacy!"
